What is dosing technology actually?

Somehow I must begin this Blog, and there I thought for beginning with the definition. Dosing technology is the technology of dosing, or for dosing. So far clearly. But what means dosing? Brockhaus or Duden (german dictionaries) supplies here no useful results, except that the term comes from that French one. My definition reads anyhow: Dosing is the dispatching of materials, preselectable after quantity and temporal consequence, in production processes. Does anybody have a better idea? We want to concentrate in this Blog on industrielle applications, it is not about how much sugar I proportions in my Espresso. And because I am fimiliar with the dosing or filling of adhesives, sealing materials or pastes in the foodstuffs sector or cosmetics, I will begin with that. Gladly however I open also different ranges of topics, I want also look beyond my own nose. I am grateful therefore over numerous suggestions of you.
